Instructor & Basic Training Classes
2010

The Pioneer Gun club will host the following classes this year at its McBride Range near Bates City, Missouri. There will be NRA "Basic" classes, NRA "Certified Instructor" classes, and MO "Concealed Carry" Classes.
You must be pre-registered for any of the classes listed.

The Basic Classes are for beginning shooters or for those who wish to improve on the fundamentals of shooting and safe gun handling. In these classes the student will learn the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to be a safe and accurate shooter.

The Certified Instructor Classes are for those who wish to teach others to shoot. The instructor candidate should already have good shooting fundamentals and be able to handle a firearm safely. There is pre-course evaluation that must be passed to take these classes. If you do not have strong skills in these areas you should take the Basic Class before taking the Instructor Class.

The MO Concealed Carry (CCW) are for those who wish to qualify for the concealed carry permit in Missouri.  Classes must have at least 5 persons and class size is limited.

What to bring:
Bring a pencil, paper, driver’s license, lunch, eye and ear protection, a revolver, a semiautomatic pistol and at least 50 rounds of factory ammunition for each handgun.  Also bring a strong side holster if you have one.  If you do not have one of the handguns one will be provided for you but you must purchase the ammunition.  If you need to use a revolver bring a box of .38 special and for a semi automatic bring a box of 9 mm Luger ammo.  Dress for the weather – we will shoot no matter what it is.

What time?
The class will begin promptly at 8:00 am and will last until approximately 6:30 pm.  By law the class must be at least 8 hours long.

In order to take the class you must be legally able to possess a firearm.

How to get to the range:
Take interstate 70 to the Bates City exit (exit 31).  Travel south through Bates City on highway Z and continue south for approximately 7 miles to Chapel Hill. Turn east at Chapel Hill on highway HH and continue for approximately 1-½ miles.  At that point HH turns to the left and a gravel road goes straight ahead.  Take the gravel road south for 1-½ miles to the Pioneer Gun Club.  The range is on your right and is marked with a sign with a large P on it.  Go through the white gates and to the clubhouse on your left.  Park on the south side of the building.

Cost:
The cost of the class is $110.00.

NRA CERTIFIED PISTOL INSTRUCTOR CLASS

LOCATION:     The class will be held at the Pioneer Gun Club’s McBride range located south of Bates City Missouri (see map). 

TIME: The class will meet from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 7:00 p.m. each day. The gates to the club will be open at 7:15 am. You should plan to arrive by 7:45 am each day so we can start the class promptly at 8:00 am.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring pencils, pen, highlighter, a three-hole binder (1 ½-2 inches), and hearing and eye protection. You will also need to bring a sack lunch and drinks since there are no eating facilities near by. If you are a certified instructor in another discipline (rifle or shotgun) please bring your Trainer Guide with you. Also bring your NRA membership card.

DO NOT BRING: Do not bring a firearm or ammunition to the class the first day. They will be furnished as needed. Note that there is to be no live ammunition in the classroom at any time. Bring your firearm on day 2 with at least 100 rounds of factory ammunition. Dress for the weather. We will shoot rain or shine.

COST: Cost of the course is $210.00. To reserve a spot in the class send your check, made out to Jack Smart, to the address at the bottom of this letter. I have a large number of people who want this class and spots will be allotted on first come first served basis. Be sure to send your completed questionnaire with the registration.

NRA CERTIFIED PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME INSTRUCTOR CLASS

NOTE: Before taking this class you must be a Certified Pistol Instructor.

LOCATION:     The class will be held at the Pioneer Gun Club’s McBride range located south of Bates City Missouri (see map).

TIME: The class will meet from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The gates to the club will be open at 7:15 am. You should plan to arrive by 7:45 am each day so we can start the class promptly at 8:00 am.

WHAT TO BRING: Please bring pencils, pen, high liter, a three-hole binder (1 ½-2 inches), and hearing and eye protection. Bring the handgun you would use in personal protection and 150 rounds of ammunition. Note that there is to be no live ammunition in the classroom at any time. You will also need to bring a sack lunch and drinks since there are no eating facilities near by. Please bring your Trainer Guide with you. Be sure to bring your current NRA membership card with you.
